The Ikyth is a variant of the Ghrykyn Armored Carriage. The Ikyth replaces the front ramp and main rhyfler compartment of the Ghrykyn with a large cannon capable of firing high explosive or canister rounds. Because the Ghrykyn transports are often packed with sweaty quar bodies the Ikyth tends to also carry the company’s rations, water and other supplies.
The Ikyth mounts a SB1.3 130mm smoothbore cannon and has a crew of 7. Despite the heavy gun the Ikyth is only slightly slower than the Ghrykyn. Due to the vibration of the chassis at higher speeds the main gun is typically locked in place with bolts during cross-country movement.
The crew of 7 consists of the tractor’s commander, crew chief, driver, gearsquar, gunner, loader and an assistant loader. Despite the size of the Ikyth tractor the recoil mechanism for the SB1.3 cannon occupies a large portion of the interior space. Many of the crew ride atop the tractor during non-combat operations where the air is not fouled by the fumes of the dual Saefyr engines.
